About the data
Hailstorm Report combines two free public sources from NOAA, the US weather agency.
Official history: NOAA Storm Events Database
The official record of severe weather, compiled by the National Weather Service. It is the most reliable source but runs months behind. Our copy currently runs through June 26, 2026.Visit the Storm Events Database
Recent storms: NOAA Storm Prediction Center reports
Preliminary reports from storm spotters, the public and NWS offices, published the same day. We use these for dates after the official record ends. They can include duplicates or later corrections. Times are shown in UTC.Visit SPC storm reports
Limits
- A report is a place where someone saw hail. Hail size can change a lot within a mile or two.
- No report near you doesn't mean no hail fell; many storms go unreported in rural areas or at night.
- This site doesn't inspect roofs or decide insurance claims. It's general information to help you ask the right questions.
Updates
